Aluminum foam coils are a type of porous metal foam material. In 1956, Elist succeeded in producing aluminum foam coils based on Sosnik's ideas. Due to the difficulty of process control, its development has been limited. As people gradually realize that this is a very important high-tech new material, with this wide application prospect, the investment is increasing, making the preparation technology make great progress, and at the same time, it has made a major breakthrough in the development of the application field.
 
The main preparation methods of aluminum foam can be divided into three categories: (1) liquid production process; (2) solid state production process; and (3) electrodeposition technology. Among them, the process is relatively mature, and the method for preparing the aluminum foam coils is a seepage method and a foaming method. In this paper, multi-arc ion plating technology is used to produce aluminum foam coils, in an effort to produce a large-area, quantitative structure of aluminum foam coils, and strive to lower the cost.


 
Production is carried out on four arc coating equipment. The substrate material is a polyurethane foam, 1 meter wide and 2 mm thick. We conducted detailed explorations on various process parameters such as intracranial vacuum, argon flow, negative bias, magnetic field strength, and operating current. The optimum process parameters were obtained. The process flow is: pretreatment - furnace installation - vacuuming - arc ignition - adjustment of process parameters - tapping - post treatment.
 
The production process parameters are: working current 75A, focusing coil working current 0.6A, constant voltage current 0.5A, negative bias voltage -120V. Aluminum foam performance: thermal conductivity of 0.996W / m, sound absorption coefficient of 0.4, electromagnetic shielding performance comparable to copper, the cost of using multi-arc ion plating technology to produce aluminum foam is also very low.
